Week 17: Wrapping It Up

This course has completely changed my perspective of social media marketing. Previously, I assumed this was a simple art form that anyone could accomplish by posting a pretty picture. This course has made me understand the nuances that separate a successful campaign and one that falls at the waist-side. Specifically, the use of hashtags was something I never knew the power of. Before this class I thought that hashtags were corny. Now I see that proper use of this tool will make or break a businesses outreach. Another thing I learned is how important it is to post the right content. In this course I studied accounts with tens of thousands of followers but very little engagement because they didn't post content that was interesting to their following.

I absolutely have a better understanding of how to use social media to build my business. The best part of this course is that it forces you to look at existing companies and valuate their successes and failures. Before this class I didn't understand the difference between a how to video and a product shot. It's my take away that the power of social media comes in its relatability. Pretty pictures and well produced videos dont bring the traffic. It's content that speaks to its viewer and creates a sense of community.

The successful accounts that I researched were the ones which had relatable content. They showed moms with their hair undone feeding their baby, not an unrealistic persona of the happy family. This is exactly the customer I'm hoping to reach. Families with real jobs to do and real challenges in their life. I also observed that users love new information. Posts that educated viewers about nutrition and family building had the best responses. Social media is a beautiful tool that empowers us all when used correctly. waist-side want to learn, and if I can properly educate them I will find success on these platforms.

In this journey I found a few accounts which I personally will continue to follow. One of these accounts is @babyaahar. They post healthy home made recipes for baby food. The thing that most stands out to me is their educational component. They don't pigeon hole themselves into the world of baby food. One of their recent posts is "9 Fun Activities for Kids." They understand that their followers are actual people raising children. If someone is interested in homemade baby food there will naturally be interested in tips that cover other facets of managing a family.

The other account which I will continue to follow is @_goodyfoody_. They post in a language I don't know, but by using the instagram translation feature I haveCh been able to learn so much about child nutrition. Their posts are very home made. Choppy videos of the woman who runs it feeding her baby, with a detailed and highly educational caption explaining why she chose that particular meal.

I'm so grateful for this class, and know that it has truly made me a better entrepreneur. Thank you Claudia!

Week 6A: Engaging With Your Customers

1.  Cadence Dance Projects 2.  Yumi 3.  Lovevery 4.  Honest 5.  FIT4MOM San Diego 6.  The Mommy Center 7.  My Gym Carlsbad I chose to like a combination of popular health/eco conscious children's brands and local businesses that cater to new moms and children's activities.  Yumi is the top of the industry for freshly delivered baby food. I chose to follow their page because their followers are the exact consumer I hope to reach. They post a combination of photos and videos, a lot of fun interactive content such as recipes you can make out of their products (something I mentioned wanting to do in my last post prior to seeing their page!) They also have a lot of infographics that give important facts like when to start feeding your infant solid foods, funny memes and tiktoks that aren't exactly promoting their products but are about being a mom, and current promotions that they're offering. There's a lot to learn from their page, but particularly ho...

Week 14A: Social Media Management Tools

Nunu is currently a one person operation, two if you include my mom helping me watch after the baby! Because of this, I feel that SocialPilot will be the best social media management service for me. They do not offer a free service but their paid plan is very affordable, the basic version being $42.50 a month which allow access for up to three users. This plan helps in scheduling posts for up to 20 social media accounts. They will also give analytics of accounts and help with customer support. I don't think that I will be using any management service initially. The daily operation for my business allots for an entire day dedicated to social media and community outreach. See below: Saturday: Go to vendors to pick up product for the first batch of deliveries.   Sunday: Prepare meals for the first delivery route.   Monday: First delivery route of the week (delivery schedule is designed to accommodate customers work schedule. There will be morning, afternoon, and evening deliver...
